The Tree House Child Care ProgramRegistration for the 2018-2019 school year is now open.Thank you for your interest in the Tree House! We are self-sustained program that is funded entirely by parent tuition and at no cost to the Board of Education. We offer a variety of services for students in grades K through 6 including:1. Before and After School Care - Beginning before school at 6:30 AM and remaining open until 6:00 PM.2. Full Day Programs - Offered from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM on Professional Development Days, February and April breaks, and during summer recess. Open to all children in grades K through 6. Events include outside presenters, field trips, and themed activities that incorporate physical activity, science, art, reading, presenters, and field trips.3. Extended Day Enrichment Clubs - Three-hour sessions of varying topics designed to engage students and alleviate scheduling conflicts for parents on the five Teaching and Learning Initiative days scheduled throughout the school year (see district calendar for dates).
Before and After School CareTransportation is provided before and after hours to all district schools from our three site, including:Northeast Academy, 115 Oslo Street in Mystic, services families from its own building and from S.B. Butler.Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School, 500 Poquonnock Road in Groton, services families from its own building and from Claude Chester.Charles Barnum Elementary School, 68 Briar Hill Road in Groton, services families from its own building and from Mary Morrisson.Before school, children are well supervised in a loosely structured environment in which they choose their own activities. Several choices are available, including exercise and physical games, puzzles, and coloring. Centers are also available daily. These student ready kits are varied in themes such as sensory activities, construction challenges, and art projects. They are rotated every two weeks to ensure continued student interest.Our after school environment is more structured and offers snack/socialization time, homework help, weekly clubs, and daily outdoor play and/or structured physical games.
Full Day ProgramsThe Tree House is open from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM on professional development days and during spring and summer recesses. Special activities, including field trips and presenters, are planned to ensure that children have fun and unique experiences on these days.
