Groton Public Schools integrated preschool programs is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The NAEYC administers the largest and most widely recognized national, voluntarily professionally sponsored accreditation system for all types of early childhood schools and child care centers. NAEYC is the nations largest organization of early childhood educators. At Mary Morrisson Elementary School, there are two integrated preschool programs that provide quality preschool programming, as well as special education services, to our three, four and five year old children in the Mary Morrisson district who are eligible. Our programs are designed as integrated special education programs, which enroll a combination of children with special needs, as well as typically developing peer role models. Our programs strive to meet the individual needs of each child participating.
The preschool programs at MM model their classroom practices after the Responsive Classroom Approach. The grade level expectations were developed by the State Department of Education, Bureau of Early Childhood Education and Social Services.
Both Mrs. Chmielewski and Mrs. Robert have a Masters Degree in Special Education/Early Childhood Education.
