Welcome to the Groton Family Resource Center! The FRC is a community-based program serving all families in the Catherine Kolnaski school district. The FRC coordinates with the school and other community organizations to help parents support their child's development and success in school. Located within Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School, the FRC is easily accessible to answer questions and provide resources or referrals.
The FRC collaborates with CKMS to provide family based programs such as; Wellness Night, Family Skate Night, Future Student Baby Showers at the HES, and a variety of Positive Youth Development Programs (guest speakers and family activities) for students throughout the school year.
The staff of the FRC also works with families of children from prenatal to 5 years old providing playgroups and toddler music classes, training and support for family day care providers, the Raising Readers Book Club, Infant Massage Classes and the nationally recognized Parents as Teachers program.
Parents as Teachers assists parents in observing their child's growth and development, addresses parents concerns, provides individualized developmental information, and offers helpful ideas and support on age appropriate activities. PAT also provides periodic developmental screenings regarding your child's growth and development in communication, motor skills, problem solving and social skills.
The FRC is a great place to call for a resource, a referral, or to find out how you can help your child be the best he can be upon entering preschool and kindergarten.
