Register for Summer School!
Fitch High School Virtual Learning Academy
Classes will run from July 9th to August 3rd
Groton Public Schools will offer a Summer School Program for students currently in grades eight through twelve. High school students needing credit recovery in math, science, social studies, and English are eligible for summer school. Grade eight students who need support in reading/writing or mathematics may also register for the Virtual Learning Academy to prepare them for the transition into high school. Summer school will use the Virtual Learning Academy where coursework is completed online and proctored at Fitch High School by a certified teacher. Coursework requires attendance in the teacher’s classroom Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for a four week period. Students are highly encouraged to work online outside of the classroom setting to complete the coursework within the four week window. It is not recommended for students to enroll in more than two courses.
Summer school is designed to allow students the opportunity for credit recovery towards graduation and enrichment opportunities. Summer school classes cover a great deal of material in a short period of time. Students will be required to attend during assigned hours and must complete the course work according to teacher expectations. To meet the credit recovery requirements and earn credit, all course-work must be successfully completed by August 3, 2012. Completion of course-work includes all online and in-class lessons/modules and other requirements.
The Fitch Senior High School handbook rules are in effect while summer school is in session. Please refer to the website for a copy of the hand-book. Standards of dress remain the same as those during the regular school year. Footwear must be worn. Fitch Senior High school reserves the right to dismiss any student for just cause. A dismissal of a student will result in forfeiture of tuition. Fighting, possession of weapons, and possession and/or use and/or sale of drugs/alcohol will result in immediate dismissal from summer school. If warranted, the police department will be contacted.
