I  welcome  all visitors to  the  principal's  corner of the S.  B.  Butler Elementary School website. School year 2011/12 was an exciting year at S. B. Butler Elementary.  During the summer of 2012, Butler received the results of the Connecticut Mastery Tests administered in March. I am again pleased to announce, that S. B. Butler Elementary School again made Annual Yearly Progress as defined by the state and federal government.  As a result, Butler fully met all the requirements of No Child Left Behind in reading, writing and mathematics. In addition, S. B. Butler students made significant gains over the 2011 results in nine out of the eleven assessments administered. I am extremely proud of the dedicated and hard working faculty and staff at Butler Elementary.

Butler Elementary serves approximately 350 students from Pre-School through Grade 5.  The mission of S. B. Butler Elementary School is to promote the academic, emotional and social growth of each member within its community, and to encourage life-long learning. We believe that all individuals have worth and everyone's individuality should be respected and valued.

Butler Elementary School prides itself as a family friendly school.  Throughout the school year we will be providing programming that involves our students and their families. We understand that home/school communication is of primary importance and we very much value your input and suggestions.  Butler enjoys a strong volunteer program.  We are thrilled to say that last year, over 90% of our parents volunteered in one form or another during the school year. Parents, grandparents, guardians and community members donate thousands of hours each year, volunteering in every corner of the building.  We are very fortunate to enjoy a healthy and active  P.T.O. that is highly involved in supporting our efforts.

Please take some time to look over both th S. B. Butler and Groton Public Schools' websites. They are constantly changing so please stop by frequently.  We are very proud of what we do and we hope it shows!
