Welcome to Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School (CKMS).  Catherine Kolnaski is Groton's largest elementary school.  This year, our students range from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade. We presently serve approximately 425 students. CKMS is also an intradistrict magnet school.  In addition to students from our district zone, we accept magnet student from all of Groton's districts.  Our magnet focus is on the arts, wellness and technology.

We are extremely proud of the number of services and programs that are offered at CKMS. CKMS offers a breakfast program every day, as well as lunch. Within our building, we have three separate programs that offer services to families who elect to participate. One is the Family Resource Center. The Family Resource Center provides a Pre-Kindergarten program and child care for those who qualify. Another program is our school-age child care program that is called the Kolnaski School-Age Child Care(KSACC). The KSACC program offers reasonable before and after-school childcare as well as summer care. CKMS proudly offers a School-Based Health Clinic (SBHC).  We contract the Child and Family Agency to provide a nurse practitioner as well as a mental health worker at Catherine Kolnaski. The nurse practitioner can provide physicals, immunizations, and prescribe medications for students eighteen years of age and younger. You can learn more about these programs by calling the school.

Outside of our school building, we also have our Health and Safety Satellite (HeSS) called Hess.  Hess is located at the police substation in Branford Manor.  CKMS works in collaboration with Branford Manor, Groton City Police and UConn to provide activities through Hess.  Many CKMS teachers volunteer for afterschool programs including homework help and Scrabble club.  Hess sponsors several special activities throughout the year.

We are happy to have you as part of the CKMS family.
Thank you for visiting our website.  We would love to hear from you to answer any questions you might have about our outstanding school.
