Welcome to Team 8E!  We are looking forward to a great 2012-2013 school year with our students.  It is our goal to help prepare students for the High School experience and provide them with the opportunity of traveling with a variety of students and not as a single block for their academic classes.  If at any time, you have questions...please contact one of your team members! Thursday, 5/9: Grades close on Friday - No homework today; we prepped for a Smarter Balanced Performance Test on Friday.

Thursday, 5/16: Pre-Algebra - No homework. Algebra - Study for mid-chapter test tomorrow (7-1 through 7-4).
Friday, 5/17: Pre-Algebra - 7-3 Practice Worksheet.  Algebra - Test today - no homework.



Language Arts:Parents--students should be reading a book of their choice nightlyfor at least 30 minutes.
 
Please Note: Students should be reading independently at home  again. 
 
Parents: Please make sure your child has one three-ring binder and two thin spiral notebooks for this class.
 
 
Friday, 5/3: READ! Be sure to bring in individual reading book for Monday's class. In class: Finished gathering words and arranged them in poem form, gluing them to background paper. Hand in before leaving class.
Monday, 5/6: Draft 9-11 stanzas for Self-Portrait poem. In class: Collect Headline poems. In writing notebooks, drafted an autobiographical poem using a specific format as outlined on the Promethean board. Introduced the idea of a Self-Portrait poem. Read examples and discussed possible topics for stanzas.
Tuesday, 5/7: Revise Self-Portrait poem based upon class questions and feedback. In class: Ss answered questions about their drafts and then shared with classmates. Checked drafts.
Wednesday, 5/8: Read own book. In class: Information given about Filming for Terry Awards and Roberts' Writing Award. Began reading Roald Dahl's "The Landlady".
Thursday, 5/9: Answer questions 2, 6 and 8. In class: Finished reading "The Landlady". Took notes on Roald Dahl.
Friday, 5/10: Read. In class: Worked on completing questions for "The Landlady" in small groups. Began discussing as a class.
Monday, 5/13: Draft a bitterness poem. Get tests signed. In class: Went over format for bitterness poem. Finished answering questions for "The Landlady". Gave back vocab tests. 
Tuesday, 5/14: Revise a piece for combo book. In class: Classes shortened due to MAP testing. Went over vocab tests/checked drafts for bitterness poems.
Wednesday, 5/15: Complete Plan Sheet. In class: Shared some Bitterness poems. Discussed questions for "The Landlady".

Social Studies:
 
Mon. - Students have copies of the information entitled "The U.S. Becomes a World Power."
 
Bring your packet with the last 3 pages completed. This packet should be reread and studied for a quiz on Wed.  This quiz will be quick and you will be able to watch the end of the movie when you are finished with the quiz.
